Best workplaces: the best companies to work in 2024

4 min read

Preliminary to the company’s participation in the competition for entry into any Great Place to Work® ranking is obtaining the Certification, with the achievement of a minimum threshold of general satisfaction of the population (average Trust Index©) expressed through the questionnaire Trust Index©.

Certification is the first level of recognition of the quality of the working environment and certifies that the organization is a great place to work.

The Model© on which the Trust Index© questionnaire is based highlights how an excellent working environment is characterized by high internal trust, according to the three fundamental relationships that are established in the organisation, grouped into 5 Dimensions: a relationship of mutual trust between company management and collaborators (Credibility, Respect and Equity), the relationship of Pride in one’s work and in the organization one is part of, and the relationship with colleagues (Cohesion).

The next and most challenging recognition is the Best Workplaces™ Italy Ranking. This, unlike the Certification, does not exclusively consider the summary score (the average Trust Index©) emerging from the questionnaire, but the overall weight of the opinion of the collaborators is preponderant: in fact, it is worth 75% of the score. The remaining 25% consists of Great Place to Work®’s evaluation of a questionnaire filled out by company management, the Culture Audit©, in which the organization describes how it creates the excellent work environment for which its collaborators are expressed.

The entire methodology, used internationally, is then firmly anchored to the concept of great place to work For All™, which takes quantitative and qualitative elements from both analysis tools. The Ranking, in fact, does not only aim to reward excellent organisations, in which the level of Trust is high, but those which are excellent in everyone’s opinion, regardless of any personal characteristic.

This so-called For All™ factor expresses the extent to which each group that is part of the organization, each person, regardless of gender, age, role, seniority in the company, experiences the work experience as positive. It is made explicit by the organisation’s ability to identify, stimulate, cultivate and leverage the skills, aspirations, inclinations and uniqueness of its people so that everyone is enabled to live the work experience fully and positively, expressing your maximum potential.

In methodological terms, the smaller the gap in the average Trust Index© between the various demographic groups that are part of the organization and, therefore, the less statistically significant the differences in the experience that these groups have of the work environment, the more final score with which the organization competes is advantaged. Taking Gender demographics as an example, the less significant the difference in average Trust Index© between men and women, the higher the For All™ factor score will be for Gender demographics. This reasoning applies to all 5 demographics of our questionnaire: Gender, Age, Company seniority, Organizational level, Contractual condition.

The companies in the Ranking therefore stand out from the others because they are capable of creating great places to work for all, i.e. excellent work environments capable of maximizing human potential thanks to the presence of effective, open and empathetic leadership, thanks to sharing of significant values, lived daily and which guide decisions, thanks to a culture aimed at continuous improvement and open to everyone’s contribution.

The Ranking is divided into four dimensional categories, according to the number of collaborators, each with 15 positions awarded:

Between 10 and 49 collaborators

Between 50 and 149 collaborators

Between 150 and 449 collaborators

From 500 collaborators
