Who pays and who doesn’t

The access fee must be paid by every natural person, over the age of 14, who accesses the Ancient City of the Municipality of Venice, unless they fall into the categories of subjects not required to pay. Generally speaking, the contribution will be requested from daily visitors who do not stay in facilities located in the Municipality of Venice.

In accordance with the law, residents of the Municipality of Venice (who simply need to show their identity document), workers (employed or self-employed), including commuters, students of any level and type of school and universities based in the ancient city or in the smaller islands, the subjects and members of the families of those who appear to have paid the IMU in the Municipality of Venice.

In addition to these subjects, the municipal regulation provides that all those staying in accommodation facilities located within the municipal territory (overnight tourists), residents in the Veneto Region, children up to 14 years of age are exempt from paying the access fee. years of age, those who participate in sports competitions, police forces on duty, spouse, partner, relatives or similar up to the 3rd degree of residents in the areas in which the Access Contribution is valid, and a further series of exemptions provided for in the Regulation.

Controls and sanctions

The Municipal Administration can use the tools provided for by the legislation for the recovery of tax evasion and evasion and in particular carry out checks, inspections and inspections by personnel authorized for this purpose at the main access points of the City. The administrative sanction is from 50 euros to 300 euros (+10 euros of the access fee), with the possibility of reporting pursuant to the Criminal Code and special laws on the matter to anyone who makes false statements, forms false documents or uses them in cases provided for by the Regulation.
