A project for the diocese and its 265 parishes

2 min read

The Diocese of Treviso becomes the promoter of an energy community open to all 265 parishes of the Diocese, open to families, companies, and also to Municipalities. This is the first Cer in Italy designed and built on the territory of an entire diocese. The “Diocese Treviso Energy Ets Foundation”, the renewable energy community (Cer) of the Diocese of Treviso, was established last 22 December, in the Bishop’s Palace, with the signatures of all the subjects involved before the notary. The founding members of the Community are the Diocese of Treviso, the Opera San Pio It is a participatory foundation, in which parishes will be involved, but also individuals, companies and a technological partner who will provide the necessary equipment. The new president of the Foundation and diocesan bursar, Sergio Criveller, explains the choice: «We have studied a legal structure that is respectful of the “diocese model”, as requested by the Bishop. Therefore a large energy community and 23 subgroups, equal to the number of primary cabins in the Diocese, rather than constituting 23 autonomous legal entities. I remember that the Diocese of Treviso covers a large part of the Province of Treviso, but also parts of those of Padua, Venice and also two parishes in the province of Vicenza. The basic idea – he underlines – is that of a large “community of communities”». We don’t create an energy community to do business – he specifies -, «but to share and support, safeguarding the environment, and contributing, also thanks to consumption, to help fragile situations». An aspect that is particularly important to Bishop Tomasi, who is accompanying the birth of the project with great interest. «The one from the Diocese of Treviso is the first project at national level for a religious body. The chosen legal form is the participatory foundation – adds Giovanni Manildo, founder and partner of the EMME7G law firm PRO, consultant of the operation – It is the optimal legal form, because it combines the possibility of directing projects that are attentive to the environment and society. The necessary prerequisite is that these foundations are open to new members and are non-profit.”
